Passion
Passion is defined as – strong and barely controllable emotion. Technology and computers has been more than a passion for me but something that has defined who I am. At 6 years old my parents put me in front of a computer – an early Texas Instruments TI 99 / 4A – and as the cliché goes…the rest is history.
But the real connection I have to technology has always been the need to know how and why things work. This investigative mindset was born earlier than my love for technology but when paired together was something like an addiction. Anyone who has been faced with technology has ultimately cursed it at one point for not working as hoped. These brick walls we hit can either turn us away from the devices or challenge us to find out why – I tend to take the latter.
The intersection of the inventive, investigation and gadgetry mindsets ultimately brought me to computer and digital forensics a few years ago. I mean how could I not? To take moment in time and try to completely deconstruct the event as it relates to technology was a natural fit. Playing digital detective to answer the questions of who did what, when and how, to ascertain the why is a rush. To pull back the fog of war and discover things that no one else thought were possible to see is like exploring a new world.
I started The Digital Forensic Group to serve as a premier digital forensic, computer investigations and electronic discovery support firm. It has allowed be to do the things I love most and work with some of the most interesting, dedicated and bright people in the World. I was fortunate enough to meet the team of individuals at Duff & Phelps a few years ago. We worked a few cases together and discussions started about me coming on board to take the motivation I have for The Digital Forensic Group to Duff & Phelps and continue to grow their forensics, investigations and dispute consulting services.
The decision was made and I am happy to say that I am now a Vice President in New York City with the Dispute and Legal Management Consulting team and support the Global Electronic Discovery and Investigations service line. The team of professionals here shares the passion and dedication that I have and I am thrilled by this opportunity.
So it comes with a bitter sweet announcement but The Digital Forensic Group is coming to a close. I am transitioning the practice to Duff & Phelps and looking forward to do even bigger and better things under the new banner. I will still be giving back to the professional community and so fortunate enough to have an organization that backs these efforts. I look forward to growing with this opportunity and the practice with the new team.
